Samuel Tilden formulated a Plan for the Peoples' Government that Works!

Why is it that we treat our elected officials like Royalty? In America they are not…they work for the people…at least they are supposed to.
Recently I have had the opportunity to read volume one of the “The Life of Samuel Tilden” and am discovering more about corruption in politics
and what the real role of the people’s government should be. From what I have read and learned is that in Tilden’s tenor as Governor of New York - it ain’t nothing like it is supposed to be.

We have politicians riding around in limousines with bodyguards protecting them who eat in the finest restaurants and go to events neither you nor I would be able to afford on a middle class salary. These people are wasting and spending taxpayer dollars like movie stars…They take no responsibility whatsoever in wasting tax dollars and why should they? It is the fault of the people who voted for them then sit back and do nothing while they rob the coffers of the government blind. The people sit back and watch with disgust day after day when it is reported on the news about their thefts and misconduct… One has to question why? I know I question why – but like the rest of the people – I sit on my laurels and do nothing to stop them.

Just yesterday I read that Congress and the President signed into law a budget that made my eyes pop. Five hundred and fifty five billion dollars!!! I will repeat that - $555 billions of dollars that include 70 billions dollars for the Iraq war and Bush was disappointed because that’s all he got. He wanted 196 billions of dollars to blow and our stingy Congress only gave him 70 billions. Bush complained about earmarks… he criticized the thousands of "earmarks" -- specific spending allocations for projects and programs favored by specific members of Congress, often for their home states and districts -- included in the budget… Uh duh – isn’t that what the money is supposed to be for? American taxpayer pork projects like the infamous bridge to no where.

I like millions of other Americans are disgusted over the entire situation – but we still sit on our laurels and do nothing. Are we waiting for a new leader to take over and fix it? With the current crop of Presidential candidates running for office – we will once again – vote them another money waster into power. There is not a one, except Ron Paul who is talking about the waste…he’s the guy who is raising money by the millions from group of citizens that are trying to get him elected so we can change government waste. He is out there promising to do all kinds of things to stop it…but like the majority of us who have heard him speak and know he is right are afraid this doctor from Texas that could destroy this country with the stroke of his pen if put into power. We fear this big of change in the right direction like we fear the fictitious role play by Al Pacino when he portrayed the Godfather. So if not Ron Paul – who do we think we can vote into office to run our government the way it is supposed to be? Hillary? Obama? Rudi? Fred? Mitt? Huckabee? Edwards? Dodd? Biden? All of these people scare the hell out of me…because each and every one of them are not saying the word or want to take the action to fix what’s broken in America…Each and every one of them in my opinion have new ideas that are going to cost MORE MONEY and they will fix nothing…each and everyone of these limo riding political celebrities made popular by the press and paid for by the corporations are drooling to sit in the Oval office and biting at the bit waiting for their chance to waste one of the biggest bank accounts in the world, our money. None of them have uttered the word, REFORM.

Like I said, after reading Tilden’s life story, I learned what needs to be done to fix our broken government… I just don’t know how to get the rest of you to take the time to read how our government is supposed to be working for us – but if I ever do – you will learn what our government is supposed to be and how to fix it…The facts are all in Volume one of, “The Life of Samuel J. Tilden” which I will publish in time…but not in time for the 2008 elections. I only wish I had the means and the influence to bring to you a Hollywood film about Tilden - then you too would know how your government, and the reform formual Tilden used worked. He worked 24/7 to bring the truth to the people and taught them what it takes to make the Peoples' Government work. He nailed Government Reform down to a science and our Politicians, Corporations and Media are surpressing the plan from you, Joe and Jane citizens.

One of Tilden's most famous statements engraved on his tombstone is: "I Still Trust in the People." He knew we knew how to get it right if we stuck together to get the work done.

Some brief history about Tilden:
New York Governor, Samuel Jones Tilden, was considered the greatest democrat ever during 1800's. He was easily nominated to be the Presidential Candidate by his party because of his reform tactics and was doing everything in his power to put the people involved in rampant corruption out of business. Tilden was best know for his success in the take down the Tammany Hall and infamous William "Boss" Tweed ring and later the Canal Ring.

Tilden won the Presidency on Election Day, November 7, 1876 beating out Rutherford B. Hayes by over 254,000 popular votes. The morning after the election newspapers across America headlined Tilden's victory, as the elected 19th President, but it was short lived when when a corrupt conspiracy took hold. Tilden elected the 19th President.

The dispute began early in the morning hours after Election day when John Reid, Managing editor of the New York Times refused to accept Tilden as President. Reid and his editors board agreed to print the headline in an editorial, "Election in Doubt." Reid paid a visit to the Republican Party Chairman, Zach Chandler around 3 am and convinced him there was still a chance for Hayes to win if the party would help him convince 3 southern states to hold there state. Within days other well known Republican newspapers across the county followed the NY Times lead to cast doubt. Tilden because he was shy just 1 electoral vote to claim the Presidency.

Samuel Tilden the Real 19th President book Reviews

Reviews for book, "Samuel Tilden the Real 19th President" -Elected by the Peoples Vote - Written by; Nikki Oldaker with John Bigelow

An unscrupulous group of “dead of night” conspirators collaborated to steal the Presidency.Samuel Tilden: The Real 19th President, by Nikki Oldaker In 1876, one hundred years after our founding fathers so assiduously designed our free democracy, this same democracy was hijacked. An unscrupulous group of “dead of night” conspirators collaborated to steal the Presidency. Nothing less than a coup, and utterly audacious in its concept and delivery, this crime against the people’s right to choose tars our nation’s history.

Author Nikki Oldaker presents this story with powerful simplicity, her choice of present tense providing an urgency that is shocking. We are drawn into the story from the night before the election. We come to know and respect Samuel Tilden his sense of morality and honor, and his determination to “clean up” the fraud and corruption of the Federal Government. As the tale unfolds, we, as voters in this democracy, are stunned and betrayed right along with Tilden and his many supporters.

Although Tilden received a 254,000 majority of the votes, over Rutherford Hayes, it was Hayes who was inaugurated the 19th President of the United States, and came to be called by many, “Your Fraudulency.” It is the dramatic unfolding of the events of this outrage that make up this compelling story, deftly handled by Nikki Oldaker. While this travesty occurred over one hundred years ago, it is clear to the reader that parallels can be drawn to the concerns and charges of voting fraud that were raised against both the 2000 and the 2004 Presidential elections. There are echoes of this dark tale in today’s extreme political bipartisanship.

It may be Ms. Oldaker's intent to bring the reader’s focus to this repetition of history, while she shows us that alert vigilance is ever mandatory in a democratic society. Samuel Tilden in his speech following conceding the presidency to Hayes, stated, “Successful wrong never appears so triumphant as on the very eve of its fall... We must believe in the right and in the future. A great and noble nation will not sever its political from its moral life.” Let us hope he is right.

A very compelling and interesting storyA very compelling and interesting story that highlights the history of our election process and sheds light on how history repeats itself. People of all ages will find this book easy to read and hard to put down. Well done!

This is a “must read” book!Never have I read a book that so incensed me about a period in American history that shook my faith in the American public and media as much as SAMUEL TILDEN, the Real 19th President elected by the People’s Vote, written by Nikki Oldaker. It has caused me to ponder why we never seem to learn that real lessons can and should be learned in order for history not to repeat itself.

Here is a book that tells the true story of the wrong president being elected amidst, trickery, lies and betrayal. All to elect a man who as not the popular choice among the voters. Who doesn’t remember: the heated fight for the presidency in the year 2000? Both candidates, George W. Bush, Republican, and Albert Gore, Democrat thought they had won both nationally and even in Florida, despite that fact that the vote was leaning to Gore. As we now know, Bush won the Electoral vote, amidst cries that Gore won the popular vote.

What we should remember is that almost the very same scenario took place in 1876, a year that also coincided with the 100th Anniversary of the United States as an Independent country also with the same disastrous results. At that time Samuel Jones Tilden, the Democratic candidate was running ahead of Rutherford B. Hayes, the Republican candidate with Tilden perceived as the sure winner. However, because of the complicated tawdry mess of bribery deception and outright fraud caused by ignoble members and conspirators of the Republican Party, Rutherford won, and deprived the country of its rightful leader. This is a “must read” book, to be savored for its “page turning” enjoyment or simply as an historical lesson to be learned to be an informed citizen of the United States.

What a story!!!!This story intriqued me from the get go...and held my interest until the end. I never heard of Tilden before today and am amazed at all he did for America and no one recognizes his accomplishments. He would have been a fantastic president! I hope this book becomes a movie...I would watch it.

Author Nikki Oldaker Wants to Encourage Librarians to buy Samuel Tilden the Real 19th President at NYC Book Expo

Nikki Oldaker plans to meet and mingling and introduce her new Samuel Tilden, the Real 19th President book to hundreds of attendees at Book Expo America NYC. Librarians and Teachers are her target because she wants to encourage them to consider including her adaptation as one of their 2008 purchases.

Years of research and writing about the disputed 1876 election is what went into the book about Samuel Tilden's controversial election against Rutherford B. Hayes. Oldaker is looking forward to meeting and mingling and introducing herself to hundreds of exhibtors and attendees at Book Expo America. Librariaians and teachers are the people she hopes to entice so that they will buy the book for their readers.

A must read book for history buffs and voters before the 2008 elections. Presidential disinformation corruption was born in 1876 and as the saying goes, history does repeat itself. Author Nikki Oldaker, in her new book "Samuel J. Tilden – The Real 19th President," takes us back in time behind the scenes of the 1876 Tilden/Hayes election, which was referenced with Gore/Bush 2000 election dispute and then again with Kerry/Bush in 2004.

NY Governor Tilden, AKA, the “Great Reformer” busted the infamous Tweed and Canal Rings. Nikki was in awe of Tilden's political integrity and in 1997, she wrote a movie script about his conflict with Rutherford B. Hayes, titled, "Tilden." She researched numerous books and historical documents as well as newspaper accounts to write a compelling screenplay. The four months of conflict and voters protests during the 1876/1877 demonstrations uncannily looks similar to the last two Presidential elections.

Nikki Oldaker is “a natural” who excels at whatever she undertakes. She plunged into her political breech in the 1992 Democratic Political Convention and two more successive ones managing “The VIP Backstage Room” for candidates and speakers who went before the TV cameras. This curiosity led her to Tilden and his presidency that was stolen by just one Electoral College vote.

The book is being exhibited at the Book Expo NYC, by R.J. Communications, booth #1702. It can also be purchased at all online bookstores or at the Samuel Tilden’s website – www.SamuelTilden.com

To celebrate the debut of the book the Author's Production Company is giving away two $100 VISA gift cards in a business card draw, plus a copy of the book. The winners will be posted on the website along with a BLOG update of the event.

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants

As a kid... I never paid much attention to history...ours or anyone elses...and what a mistake that is... we need to stop turning our heads and teach our children this history...or all the freedoms we take for granted will be lost....Nikki Morgan Oldaker

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907. "In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people." Theodore Roosevelt 1907...
